How to Perfect Your Hammer Grip Pull-Up Technique
Hammer grip pull-ups, also known as neutral grip pull-ups, are a variation of the traditional pull-up exercise that primarily targets the muscles of the back, shoulders, and arms.
Here's how to do it:
Stand in front of a pull-up bar with your palms facing each other and your hands shoulder-width apart on the bar.
Jump or step up to grasp the bar with your arms fully extended and your body hanging freely.
Engage your back muscles and pull your body up towards the bar, keeping your elbows close to your sides and your chest lifted.
Pause at the top of the movement, then slowly lower yourself back down to the starting position, maintaining control throughout the descent.
Repeat for the desired number of reps.
Note:
If you're unable to do full hammer grip pull-ups, you can start with assisted pull-ups using a resistance band or a machine, or perform negative pull-ups by starting at the top of the movement and lowering yourself down slowly. Gradually increase the number of reps and sets as you get stronger.
